About Us

Director, Ben Cotton spent nearly a decade working for leading design and lifestyle publications such as Wallpaper*magazine in London.  A collector and avid enthusiast of contemporary art, he decided in late 2007 to move away from the security of the publishing sector to pursue his passion with a career in the visual arts.

Beginning in early 2008 by establishing Hang-Up Pictures an online art gallery representing exciting underground talent and highly collectible street artists, Ben also organized high-profile exhibitions to gain prominent recognition for Hang-Up artists. Today Hang-Up has worked with more than 90 artists and has grown as a veritable 'one stop shop' for both the sourcing and selling of collectible secondary market editions.

Hang-Up Contemporary launched in 2011 as an online contemporary art gallery presenting fresh and forward thinking art work from some of the most innovative and exciting young artists around. Hang-Up Contemporary works with, commissions and publishes print editions, photography editions and original artworks from artists across the globe.  It collaborates closely with their artists throughout every stage of the ‘making’ process from printers to paper selection. The editions that are commissioned are small and highly collectible. As they sell out the price increases encouraging early commitment for the collector.

Hang-Up Contemporary also deal in and source work from established names Including Sam Taylor Wood, Mario Testino, Jose Parla, Andy Warhol, Polly Morgan, Tracey Emin, Sir Peter Blake and Damien Hirst to name but a few.

The team operates from a large 1200 sq ft open loft space in Shoreditch, London which is shared with sister company Hang-Up Pictures Although primarily an online gallery should clients wish to look at a particular artwork before purchase then viewings by appointment can normally be arranged.
